WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE!
Around the World, Ronald McDonald House is referred to as “the House that love built.” This couldn’t be more true than with our House. From our passionate staff who dedicate endless hours to creating a home away from home for families of hospitalized children, to our volunteers who kindly contribute in ways big and small, to those families we serve who find solace during some of the most difficult times of their lives - - there is a whole lot of love here!
Did you know that:
- During 2010, our House served 891 critically ill children?
- Provided over 4,000 nights of stay for those families?
- In addition to House guests, we provided comfort to over 1600 families in our hospital Family Room?
- Logged thousands of service hours from volunteers?
We accomplished all this while keeping your monetary contributions here in the Greenville community. For all these good works, we sincerely thank our staff, volunteers, contributors and the community at large for its support. We are very grateful.
Unfortunately, there is a downside to this story. Did you know:
- In 2010, we turned away as many families as we served?
- We constantly have to decline requests to “just let me sleep on the couch, or take a shower…”?
In performing our mission, we clearly have significant unmet needs. Soon, you will be hearing about how we intend to remedy this situation in order to serve more families. I hope that you will consider supporting our House in this new exciting endeavor.
In the meantime, get involved! What can you do? We need all kinds of help: as a host/hostess at our hospital Family Room, event volunteers at fundraising events, helping with yard work and other “home” tasks at the House, volunteering to cook a meal for our guests, collecting aluminum pop tabs - - we would appreciate all of your help.
Come share the love! |
